
Savoury Katarni Chura
Ingredients:
- Katarni chura – 1 cup
- Onion (chopped) – 1 small
- Green chili – 1 (chopped)
- Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – 6–8
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Oil or ghee – 1 tbsp
- Peanuts or roasted chana – 2 tbsp (optional)
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Coriander leaves – for garnish
Method:
- Lightly rinse and soak the chura for 2–3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, let them crackle. Add curry leaves, green chili, and peanuts.
- Add chopped onion and sauté till translucent.
- Add turmeric and salt, then mix in the drained chura.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes on low flame, stirring gently.
- Turn off the heat, add lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
Best enjoyed with tea or as a light lunch/snack.
