Savoury Katarni Chura

Ingredients:

  1. Katarni chura – 1 cup
  2. Onion (chopped) – 1 small
  3. Green chili – 1 (chopped)
  4. Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  5. Curry leaves – 6–8
  6. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  7. Salt – to taste
  8. Oil or ghee – 1 tbsp
  9. Peanuts or roasted chana – 2 tbsp (optional)
  10. Lemon juice – 1 tsp

Coriander leaves – for garnish

Method:

  1. Lightly rinse and soak the chura for 2–3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, let them crackle. Add curry leaves, green chili, and peanuts.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté till translucent.
  4. Add turmeric and salt, then mix in the drained chura.
  5. Cook for 2–3 minutes on low flame, stirring gently.
  6. Turn off the heat, add lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.

Best enjoyed with tea or as a light lunch/snack.
