Urad Dal Flour Soft Dosa

A simple, fermented-style dosa for those short on time.

Serves 3 | 20 min + 6–8 hrs fermentation

  • ½ cup urad dal flour
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1½ cups water (adjust as needed)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Oil for cooking

Method

  1. Whisk both flours with the water and salt into a smooth, thin batter.
  2. Cover and ferment in a warm place for 6–8 hours, until it smells lightly sour and looks bubbly.
  3. Thin with a little water if needed.
  4. Pour a ladleful onto a hot greased tawa and spread in a circle. Drizzle oil at the edges.
  5. Cook until golden and crisp, then serve with sambar or coconut chutney.
